whats for dinner???

chicken pot pie!

i love eating... i don't mind cooking... i hate deciding what to make, and when i say hate i mean hate. so any one dish meal, with ingredients i usually have in the pantry, that takes barely any prep time and less than 30 minute cook time is ideal... to say the least! chicken pot pie is a staple in our house (until about three months ago when apparently i cooked it so much we turned it to chickens- its just so easy...) but its been long enough and i was able to put it back in the rotation tonight. it reminded me just how good and simple it is. perfect for any mom on the go- or anyone not wanting to make a decision...

ingredients:
-1 rotisserie chicken (or 4 chicken breast cooked) shredded
-half stick butter
-1 cup milk
-1 and 1/2 cup chicken broth
-1/3 cup flour
-salt and pepper to taste
-1 can peas
-1 can green beans
-1 cup cooked carrots sliced
-any other veggies you like ....
-2 pie crusts

directions:
-preheat oven according to directions on pie crust package
-in a 2 quart sauce pan melt butter, once melted add flour {making a "blond" roux}
-add in milk, broth, salt and pepper {allow to cook- stirring frequently- until thick}
-add in veggies and chicken {take off heat}
-spoon mixture into crust lined pie dish, cover with remaining pie crust
-bake according to package {usually around 400 for about 20-30 minutes}
-let stand 5 minutes before serving... this with save many taste buds from burning off.. we learn this the hard way... every time...
* its even better the next day! so don't be afraid to make this the day before. follow all directions, but don't bake until ready to serve.

{...usually i eat a couple spoonfulls here... quality check}

wtf trends... leopard

those who know me well, know that i love leopard print... ok i beyond love leopard... if it was socially acceptable i would probably wear a little splash of if with every outfit. it takes the simplest of outfits and just gives it that something extra. plus, the best thing is that it transcends seasons, styles and budgets. BUT if your not exactly sure how to mix it in or for those of you who think leopard is only meant to be worn in the wee hours of the morning on the corner of santa monica and highland then here are some ways that even YOU can fit it in to the rotation...

white stripes

{finished product}

1. take everything off walls, patch holes... and if your ones of "those" then you can tape the floor, ceiling, windows, cover all the furniture, etc... i don't have the patience...

2. paint all walls your base color.

3. measure and tape. ( i did 10 inches ) remember to place tape outside the area to be painted... also if something seems off it probably is... don't just keep going ( not that i did that... ) but trust me it will save lots of time if you figure it out right away.

4. paint the stripes with your other color .. or same color different sheen or wall paper... whatever the options are endless.

if i can do it you can do it... enough said...

i'm an auntie today!!! (for the third time... second time in one month for those of you who are confused and thought i did this post already... never gets old!) so since i once again have baby on the brain i thought i'd share with you a few pictures from the shower that i threw for the mommy to be! i realized i didn't have any pictures of the decorations from the actual shower so these are the texts pictures i would send to my sis. even though these aren't how they were set up at the shower maybe this can give you some inspiration for your next party!
